My Expertise
Global Health Leader
The International Pediatric Association (IPA) for the first time conducted a world wide selection process to choose 14 pediatricians from across the globe for the first ‘Child Health Emerging Leaders Program’.
Dr Bharath was fortunate to be selected to represent India in this global platform. The IPA LEAD program, led by Dr Linda Arnold, aimed at creating early career leaders to bring about social change not only in their respective countries but internationally. It created a unique network of inspiring pediatricians with one single goal – to serve the children of our world.
Leadership Training in Panama
The IPA LEAD program began with training the 14 selected Pediatricians in Panama City by faculty from the Yale School of Global Health. The Emerging Leaders program included intense training sessions on leadership qualities, managing stakeholders and problem solving.
The days of training in Panama was followed by online coaching calls by the Yale group which enhanced our skills and focus towards the projects that we were to choose to make social change.
Coaching sessions in Istanbul, Turkey
The IPA LEAD group met in Istanbul next, with each of the leaders having a project that they were working on. As a Pediatric Pulmonologist, Dr Bharath had chosen to work on the problem of air pollution impacting child health. They were further trained and had intense discussions on how their projects would take shape to fulfill clear objectives.
The group brainstormed on the stake holders they could engage in their projects, how to budget it correctly and reach out to policy makers.By the end of the coaching sessions in Istanbul, all Global Health Leaders were making a change one step at a time.
